 |  | Video Conference Integration Seminars TIES is hosting a series of professional development workshops for
integrating video conferencing in your classroom. This first round of
sessions are free of charge so come and join us!
You must either
have video conferencing capabilities at your site or fins a site that you can go to. Please check with
your school/district technology department for access to video
conferencing equipment. If you do not have access you can connect with
your Telecommunications Regions and go to a site that will have the
capabilities. Telecommunications Regions can be found Here.

Session One: Introduction to Videoconferencing and Internet2
October 28, 2008, 3 –4 PM
This session is an introduction to video conferencing and is the place to start if you don’t know where else to go. Discover what other educators are doing with video conferencing and what resources are available to you. We will discuss ways to get you up and running, connecting with other teachers and content providers.

Session Two: Incorporating Virtual Field Trips featuring Mote Marine
November 12, 2008, 3 –4 PM
In this session we will discuss best practices for taking your classroom on a virtual field trip. We will explore ways to integrate this experience into the curriculum and how to get connected with various content providers (organizations) all across the world. You will also practice the basic etiquette expected for videoconferencing interactions. Participants are encouraged to come with stories and questions.

Session Three: Planning Classroom Collaborations
November 19, 2008, 3 –4 PM
This session explores the ways a classroom can interact with classrooms across the world via video conferencing. You will learn best practices in designing classroom collaborations and hear first hand experiences. Educators will go through the process of putting a collaboration together while learning strategies for successful implementation. Participants are encouraged to come with their own ideas for collaborative projects, share those projects and get feedback from the presenters and other participants.

Session Four: Distance Job Shadowingfeaturing “BestPrep”
November 20, 2008, 3 –4 PM
This session examines the ways students can interact with business people and corporations via video conferencing. You will learn some of the best practices in video conferencing and how students may engage with a guest speaker. Educators will learn about opportunities for job shadowing and transferring business and science skills into future careers. Participants are encouraged to come with their own ideas and questions.
