The Minnesota Mega Conference Jr. 2008 program is a chance for interactions
between students from their own classrooms. This 4 hour project is designed
to give students the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with each
other across the state of Minnesota. This culminates in every participant
contributing in a real-time learning community using advanced multi-point
video conferencing technology. Projects are shared by students for students
promoting state wide community building and awareness of others.
PRESENTATION DESCRIPTIONS
A Photo Journalism Project using a Pinhole Camera.
Join in for a demonstration on how to make a pinhole camera using an oatmeal box, pop can and electrician tape. You will learn how to use this camera to document your town or area in pictures with this camera which have a vintage look.
Amazing and Wacky Demonstrations of Chemical Principles!
We will have students from chemistry conduct and explain a series of chemical demonstrations to amaze students while at the same time teaching and reinforcing important chemical principles!

Deaf Myth Busters
Bust the myths on deafness by increasing your awareness about deaf people! There are many things people don't know about deaf people. Get to know how deaf people live and do things that may be similar or different than how you lead your lives.
FBI Award - Online Safety
Students in the Valley View Middle School 8th Grade LRT course recently won the January and February FBI SOS on-line safety award. Students from the class will share information about the S.O.S. program, and their experience learning about on-line safety.
How the west was won with technology
Join us on an western adventure as we discuss how technology was used to develop and settle our country. We will demonstrate the from the first use of technology, the cow bell, all the way to video conferencing internationally using high speed networks.
International Collaboration
Join us for a discussion about what is happening with Video conferencing at Scott Highlands Middle School and our international collaboration with Mexico city.
Minnesota Mystery Quest
Minnesota is 150 years old this year! Come watch as we play an exciting trivia game based around facts about Minnesota and interact with a partner site.
Poetry Jam
Students with a passion for poetry share their poems with like-minded colleagues half-way across the country! Participants from Minnesota, Texas and New York alternate between reading their own verses and providing an audience for others sharing.
Science Observations in the Garden
Third grade students will share a Power Point tour of the several year progress in our court yard garden. Then we will ask our interactive sites to participate in a guessing game using some close up photos of things we observed in the garden.
Urban Stewards
8th grade students at the are involved in an Urban Stewards Program in
which they do community investigation to determine and research an
environmental issue that the community faces. This year's 8th grade
class has been researching air pollution in Downtown Minneapolis and
they will present their spring project to make the downtown air cleaner!
Through this video conference, they would hope to impact communities
outside of Minneapolis, so that we can work together to make the world a
cleaner breathing place for everyone.
